Serving Individuals with Disabilities Involved with Child Welfare
Child Welfare Agencies must ensure individuals with disabilities have a full and equal opportunity to benefit from or participate in agency programs, services, and activities. To ensure a full and equal opportunity is provided, agencies may need to make various reasonable modifications. This session will provide a high-level review of the laws impacting disability rights (ADA/504), recently signed agreement with federal agencies, provide a general discussion of DCYF’s approach to the provision of reasonable modifications/accommodations and ensuring effective communication.
