How Early Childhood Development Intersects with Child Welfare
Did you know 90% of a child’s brain is developed by age 5? Children 0-4 represent the most vulnerable children involved with child welfare. It is critical for all people involved with the child welfare system to understand early childhood development and its impact on safety. This presentation will review developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with a focus on how early childhood development intersects with child safety. Participants will learn how to access developmental evaluations for children who are not yet meeting these milestones. You will get a refresher on DCYF policy as it relates to birth-5-year-olds. Join this presentation to enhance safety-focused decision-making and improve the quality of your documentation for this age group.
