A SAFE Program’s Approach to Increasing Resilience in Adolescent Survivors
Access to mental health services is frequently hindered by various challenges. Our SAFE/DV Program sought a solution to this barrier. By leveraging the collaboration of the Child Advocacy Center and key community partners, we addressed a critical gap in services by developing and establishing our own support group for adolescent survivors. Our partnership with a local therapist has strengthened the quality and reach of support we offer. By integrating art-based therapy into our programming which offers an alternative path to healing that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. Art based therapy has become a key component of our trauma informed care offering adolescents a nonverbal outlet to process their emotions and experiences.
