BABAS, Revered Men with a Purpose – Film Premier and Panel
This workshop will feature a screening of the short documentary by filmmaker Radha Menta highlighting the BABAS program at the Institute for Black Justice (IBJ) in Tacoma, WA. The BABAS program supports fathers, particularly those navigating reunification, through culturally responsive, trauma informed coaching, mentorship, and peer support. Through personal stories and powerful moments, the film explores themes of healing, accountability, resilience, and the critical role fathers play in family stability and child wellbeing. Following the screening, a panel discussion with program leaders and those connected with the project will reflect on the impact of father centered supports, the importance of culturally grounded approaches to family services, and how collaborative community efforts can strengthen outcomes for children and families involved in the child welfare system.
