Supporting Children and Their Families in Out-Of-Home Care: Moving from Theory to Action

DCYF is committed to supporting families and children placed outside their home. The current system struggles to match children with appropriate housing and supportive services which meet their unique needs. Over the past two years, the Placement Continuum team has engaged the community in building a vision of how DCYF can support a kin-first culture and family and community connection. The result of that engagement has been the creation of a Theory of Action.

This session will begin by providing an overview of the Theory of Action, followed by a panel with community partners, providers, and lived experts. Following the panel, attendees will be invited to join DCYF in ‘Moving from Theory to Action’ by participating in small group activities. The vision for this exercise is to solicit ideas from the wider community on ways in which DCYF can leverage the Theory of Action.
