Strenthening the forensic Interview: The Impact of Pre and Post Interview Meetings

Forensic interviews are most effective when they occur within a coordinated, trauma-informed multidisciplinary team (MDT) response. While much attention is placed on the interview itself, the strategic use of pre- and post-interview meetings with caregivers and MDT partners plays a critical role in supporting the child, preserving the integrity of the interview, and improving investigative and therapeutic outcomes.
This presentation explores how structured communication before the forensic interview prepares caregivers, reduces inadvertent coaching, clarifies expectations, and promotes emotional safety for the child. It will also highlight how post-interview debriefings with caregivers and MDT partners enhance case coordination, ensure consistent messaging, support caregiver engagement, and guide next steps in investigation, treatment, and victim advocacy
