When Abuse Goes Digital: Technology Facilitated Violence for Healthcare Providers
In this digital age, children and teens face unique challenges. Technology-facilitated violence (TFV) is a rapidly emerging trend affecting children and adolescents worldwide. TFV involves using digital means to commit acts of violence, such as harassment, exploitation, or coercion.
This presentation will discuss common forms of TFV, including the use of technology in grooming, sextortion, and deepfake AI-generated images. We will focus on 764 Gore groups, which are extremely dangerous and nefarious groups targeting vulnerable children and teens online.
Children and teens affected by TFV require a strong multidisciplinary response to ensure the best care. This presentation will provide insight into current trends in TFV, strategies for identifying those affected, and interventions with a focus on treating with a multidisciplinary approach. Case studies will be included to demonstrate the application of the recommended interventions.
