Children in the Courtroom Training Series Part 3
The last in a comprehensive series of trainings concerning the participation of children and youth in their dependency cases, this session covers various aspects of child testimony. The presentation will discuss preliminary considerations such as competency to testify and avenues for avoiding the need for child testimony. It will then address the numerous ways to aid children during testimony. Topics covered will include witness preparation, use of facility dogs, alternative means of testimony, and more. The goal of the presentation is for attendees to walk away with all the basic knowledge and citations they need for assisting children when they must testify in proceedings.
